Overview

ShyWindow is a native macOS menu bar app. This page covers the app and the marketing site at www.shywindow.com.

The macOS app

Browsing happens in a sandboxed WKWebView on your Mac. Pages you open are loaded from the sites you choose; ShyWindow does not operate a proxy or browse on your behalf on our servers.

• Preferences (modes, opacity, panel size, and similar) are stored locally in UserDefaults on your Mac.
• Recent URLs are stored locally after sanitization (query and fragment stripped). Bookmarks keep the full URL you saved, also locally.
• License key and email are stored in the macOS Keychain. License checks contact Gumroad's license API to verify purchase status.
• Sparkle may check for app updates using the published appcast URL; update packages are signed and notarized.

The app does not include Google Analytics or third-party ad SDKs.

This website

The marketing site may use Vercel Analytics and Google Analytics 4 to understand traffic (page views and similar aggregate metrics). These tools may set cookies or use similar technologies as described in their own policies.

Purchases are handled by Gumroad; their privacy policy applies to checkout and payment data.
